About The Position

The Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the hospital environment across the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant setting that supports optimal patient and associate experience. This role oversees regulatory compliance, infection control practices, departmental policies and procedures, surveys, payroll, scheduling, staffing, reporting, environmental operations, inventory management, and all EVS-related systems and equipment. The EVS Supervisor handles sensitive and confidential information and must exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role. Depending on operational needs or specific projects, this position may require flexibility in work locations, hours, and shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is an essential role and may require reporting during inclement weather or emergency situations to ensure continuous operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2–5 years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, or related experience in a healthcare setting
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of infection control standards, cleaning procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing staff schedules, payroll, and operational reporting preferred
  • Proficiency with EVS-related systems, equipment, and technology
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily Environmental Services operations across assigned areas and shifts
  • Ensure all patient care areas, public spaces, and support departments meet Montefiore Einstein cleanliness and infection control standards
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital regulatory requirements and infection prevention guidelines
  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate EVS staff to ensure performance expectations are consistently met
  • Manage staffing schedules, payroll processes, and workforce planning to meet operational needs
  • Conduct routine inspections, quality audits, and readiness for internal/external surveys; address deficiencies promptly
  • Maintain department policies and procedures and ensure adherence across the team
  • Oversee inventory management of supplies and equipment; coordinate procurement as needed
  • Collaborate with nursing, facilities, infection prevention, and leadership teams to support patient care operations
  • Respond to urgent or emergency cleaning needs, including isolation rooms, spills, and discharge cleans
  • Utilize EVS systems and applications for reporting, tracking performance, and operational efficiency
  • Document incidents, staff performance, inspections, and compliance activities as required
