About The Position

The Encampment Response Supervisor will provide guidance to the encampment response team, offering direct engagement with community members, and ensuring ethical and effective service delivery. This role ensures that all interventions meet ethical standards and legal requirements while supporting staff in maintaining their well-being. The Encampment Response Supervisor brings expertise in system navigation and ensures that client service plans are realistic, client-centered, and collaboratively developed. The position also supports continuous program improvement through data collection and participation in policy discussions, and local interagency collaborations. This position reports to the Coordinator, Homelessness Initiatives and Community Outreach.

Requirements

  • Completion of a University Degree in Social Work
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience working in areas including case management, system navigation and housing and homelessness
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in system navigation
  • Proven ability to provide guidance and support to diverse teams (sometimes with lived experience) working with vulnerable populations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, reporting and information privacy practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and adherence to ethical standards
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and supports encampment response team members to ensure effective service delivery
  • Provides ethical guidance and oversight to align interventions with professional standards and legal requirements
  • Supports staff with complex cases, ethical dilemmas, and personal wellbeing strategies
  • Guides outreach staff in developing individualized and achievable client service plans
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on vulnerable populations to inform programs, strategies, and community understanding
  • Uses critical thinking to make decisions, including in time sensitive and high risk situations
  • Ensures compliance with safety policies, legislation, and proper use of protective equipment
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with community partners, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Monitors program effectiveness through data collection, documentation, and continuous improvement practices
  • Represents the organization in the community while managing crises, supporting staff, and promoting client centered outcomes.
