About The Position

The Encampment Response Workers will play a critical role in facilitating comprehensive care through relationship building, system navigation and case management, ensuring individuals receive assistance beyond initial interventions. The primary goal of this position is to develop trusting relationships with community members assisting to leave encampments for housing and increased safety and stability. Encampment Response Workers provide direct, hands-on support to individuals who are sheltering outdoors or living in precarious housing situations and who may be struggling with mental health, addictions and other barriers to wellbeing. This position will meet people where they are at, regularly visiting encampments, shelters and public spaces to make connections and develop trust. Working collaboratively with Bylaw Enforcement, Regina Police Service, Regina Fire and Protective Services, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Ministry of Social Services, and a range of community-based service providers, Encampment Response Workers assess immediate risks and identify long-term needs. They develop individualized person-centred case plans when possible and support individuals to leave encampment through goal-oriented system navigation.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Social Work, combined with a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience working in areas including case management, system navigation and housing and homelessness.
  • Relevant experience in related fields will be considered.
  • Experience supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and collaborate with partners
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in digital tools, documentation, and data management systems
  • Physical capability to perform field outreach, including extended walking
  • Knowledge of community resources and income support programs such as SAID and SIS
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, high risk, and sensitive situations with professionalism and tact
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret legislation, policies, and assess complex client needs while maintaining ethical and legal standards
  • Proof of education is required.

Responsibilities
