Encampment Response Workers provide direct, hands-on support to individuals who are sheltering outdoors or living in precarious housing situations and who may be struggling with mental health, addictions and other barriers to wellbeing. This position will meet people where they are at, regularly visiting encampments, shelters and public spaces to make connections and develop trust. Working collaboratively with Bylaw Enforcement, Regina Police Service, Regina Fire and Protective Services, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Ministry of Social Services, and a range of community-based service providers, Encampment Response Workers assess immediate risks and identify long-term needs. They develop individualized person-centred case plans when possible and support individuals to leave encampment through goal-oriented system navigation.
