About The Position

National Grid is hiring a Supervisor for our Gas Customer Meter Services department in Waltham, MA. This position will be field-based (60%) or in the office (40%) 5 days per week. We are responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned operations personnel in order to effectively accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements. This position includes coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Solid planning and organizing skills required
  • Exceptional safety record, strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • In lieu of degree, 2+ years of related operations work experience required
  • Prior leadership experience with a focus on Gas Field Operations or Customer Meter Services preferred
  • Technical knowledge of distribution systems, engineering, construction and maintenance practices preferred
  • Some knowledge of labor relations including interpretation of contract language, resolution of grievances and issues related to sickness and poor standards of work and the implementation of corrective action where necessary preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implement policies and procedures and ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of natural gas customers’ premises as well as the Company’s distribution system, while fulfilling statutory requirements and meeting or exceeding performance incentives
  • Monitor and enforce work rules, standards and procedures for emergency response, leak investigation, and other scheduled work, while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations
  • Respond to natural gas emergencies and coordinate with other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators and the Police and Fire Departments
  • Support achievement of goals, including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response and safety
  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce, through coaching, counseling, and team building to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks
  • Ensure safe working conditions are maintained through field inspections of work sites and equipment
  • Participate in on-call or after hour supervisory duties
