About The Position

We are currently looking for a Meter Shop Supervisor to join the Meter and Inspection Services Team based out of the Lakeside Depot. Reporting to the Operations Manager Meter and Inspection Services, you'll be a key leader driving operational excellence, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery of meter shop operations while ensuring regulatory compliance to the Meter Quality Assurance program and Measurement Canada requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Candidates with a certificate in another Electrical Trade, Engineering Technology, or as an Electrical Technician may also be considered.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Adaptable to change and a self-motivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and operational efficiencies of the meter shop.

Nice To Haves

  • A professional engineering designation is preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of computers, excel and data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives is preferred.
  • A strong commitment to and experience leading safe and inclusive work environments would be an asset.
  • Previous leadership experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in an electrical utility would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Nova Scotia Power’s standards for customer service are met or exceeded by utilizing a skilled workforce to complete all meter shop daily operational tasks and activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Champion our safety culture by proactively developing and implementing the safety management system for the meter shop team, conducting thorough investigations, and creating an environment where employee and public safety are our highest priority.
  • Establish a mutually supportive working relationship with other field supervisors, field employees, engineering and other internal business teams to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain good labor relations and employee morale by providing training and development opportunities; ensure tools are effectively operated and maintained; sustain a current knowledge of rates, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, standards, and collective agreements.
  • Responsible for overall compliance to the Measurement Canada quality assurance requirements and the relationship between NSP and Measurement Canada.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial projections and will implement cost control measures.
  • Responsible for the inventory management of meters in the meter shop and across the province.
  • Responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
