Supervisor, Community Corrections
About The Position
The Ministry of Community Safety has employment opportunities for confident and motivated professionals for Supervisors in the Community Corrections Electronic Monitoring Program. Headquarters can be in Meadow Lake or North Battleford. The successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to supervision of employees to meet the standards and practices of Community Corrections programs. We are seeking candidates to provide leadership, guidance, direction and support ensuring case management conforms to the program’s standards. The Supervisors will have a sound understanding of The Youth Criminal Justice Act, Criminal Code, The Correctional Services Act, Young Offender Programs mandate, the Child and Family Services mandate, and the mandate of others in the youth/adult Justice system. You will also have an in-depth knowledge/skill and demonstrated ability to apply and coach others in risk management, risk reduction and relapse prevention framework, as well as working knowledge of a variety of casework tools. The successful candidates will coordinate and distribute casework; recruit new staff; provide clinical consultation to Probation Officers/Community Youth Workers related to the case management process; mentor and train, evaluate case practice and ensure quality service, complete youth death reviews and inform management of case actions and/or court decisions with the potential to effect policy change. You will have achieved demonstrated competency in the administration of the Ministry’s generalized and specialized assessments and have a familiarity with the youth and adult court process. As the supervisor, you will support and engage in partnerships with community-based organizations, First Nations communities, other government ministries, and members of the justice community. You will participate in a conflict resolution structure to resolve conflicts and complaints. You will also be expected to be on call as the acting Provincial Director regarding young persons who violate their conditions for release from custody into the community. As a field employee, you may be required to work non-traditional hours. A valid driver’s license is required for the position. Requirements
- Sound understanding of The Youth Criminal Justice Act, Criminal Code, The Correctional Services Act, Young Offender Programs mandate, the Child and Family Services mandate, and the mandate of others in the youth/adult Justice system.
- In-depth knowledge/skill and demonstrated ability to apply and coach others in risk management, risk reduction and relapse prevention framework.
- Working knowledge of a variety of casework tools.
- Demonstrated competency in the administration of the Ministry’s generalized and specialized assessments.
- Familiarity with the youth and adult court process.
- A degree from an accredited university or college; or a minimum two-year diploma, with a focus on the principles of behavioural change and other assessment skills, this would include Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work or Mental Health; or meet the grandfathering provisions in accordance with Community Corrections qualifications.
- A valid driver’s license is required for the position.
