Under the direction of the Coding Manager, the Coding Supervisor provides first-line supervision to physician coding staff. The Coding Supervisor will interact with care providers, managers and support staff. The position requires depth of knowledge in coding systems software and reimbursement methodologies. Requirements

  • Applicable Experience: 3-5 years
  • Cert Professional Coder - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
  • Associate Degree
  • Certifications: CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CIRCC, COC

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, discipline, and supervise coding staff
  • Monitor coding quality and productivity performance
  • Audit/code when needed
  • Assist in development and implementation of coding policies and procedures
  • Provide education to providers/practices
  • Template updates
  • Work with Compliance teams on trends
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of coding team
  • Coordinate use of contract staff when necessary
  • Identify coding trends and provide education to coding staff
  • Review unbilled accounts and communicate to providers for missing documentation
  • Work with facility side coding supervisors and management
  • Provide feedback on monthly coder accuracy/productivity
  • Participate in special projects
