About The Position

The Coding Supervisor plans, directs, and supervises coding staff to ensure timely, accurate, and complete processing of coding services. This role requires advanced knowledge of ICD/CPT codes and ensures the completion of coding and charge posting within department guidelines, focusing on accuracy to reduce delays and resubmissions. The supervisor also ensures compliance with CMS and AHCCCS regulations for charge entry, coding, and billing processes, and advocates for compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Additionally, this position coordinates the coding process for accurate and timely billing of surgery charges, attends seminars to stay current on coding, compliance, and billing benefits, and establishes staff training for new releases. The supervisor responds to patient questions and complaints to resolve problems and maintain high patient satisfaction, and assists in interviewing, hiring, and training new staff members.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of ICD/CPT codes.
Five years of experience in coding and medical terminology.
APC Certified with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
APC Certification
Knowledge of the patient accounting system and provides support to staff as needed.
Knowledge of clinic-approved coding.
Knowledge of third-party fee profiles and reimbursement requirements.
Knowledge of health insurance processing and clinic policies and procedures.
Skill in advanced computer coding applications.
Skill in identifying and resolving complex coding problems.
Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
Skill in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with patients, providers, and the public.
Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff.
Ability to be a resource for billing information and coding guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
