About The Position

Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and with input from the Chief Pathologist, this role develops plans, directs, coordinates, and controls all activities of the Blood Bank and Therapeutic Phlebotomy to ensure the efficient operation of that section, meeting and exceeding customer expectations. The position involves performing a wide range of routine and complex laboratory analyses on inpatient and outpatient specimens, ensuring all activities comply with acceptable clinical technology, administrative policy, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and medical ethics. The role requires correlating and interpreting data based on an in-depth knowledge of technical, instrumental, and physiological conditions affecting test results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a section supervisor in a hospital laboratory setting.
  • Baccalaureate degree in a biological or physical science or Medical Technology training with at least six years of current laboratory training or experience OR have previously qualified or could have qualified as a General Supervisor under 42CFR 493.1427 of the Federal Regulations published March 14, 1990 (55FR 9538) on or before February 28, 1992 and have at least six years of current laboratory training and experience.
  • MT (ASCP), MT (HHS), CLS (NCA), M (ASCP), or equivalent license/certification.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
