About The Position

Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and with input from the Chief Pathologist, this role develops plans, directs, coordinates, and controls all activities of the Blood Bank and Therapeutic Phlebotomy to ensure the efficient operation of that section, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a section supervisor in a hospital laboratory setting.
MT (ASCP), MT (HHS), CLS (NCA), M (ASCP), or equivalent certification.
Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Develops plans, directs, coordinates, and controls all activities of the Blood Bank and Therapeutic Phlebotomy.
Ensures the efficient operation of the Blood Bank and Therapeutic Phlebotomy section.
Performs a wide range of routine and complex laboratory analyses on inpatient and outpatient specimens.
Ensures that all activities are conducted in accordance with acceptable clinical technology, administrative policy, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and medical ethics.
Correlates and interprets data based on an in-depth knowledge of technical, instrumental, and physiological conditions affecting test results.
