About The Position

This position supervises the daily operations of patient intake and/or admissions. This may include managing calls and referrals, scheduling assessments and admissions, verifying benefits, and prioritizing the completion of all pre-certifications. The role is responsible for ensuring patient safety and departmental efficiency for the assigned shift.

Requirements

  • In some states, if a registered nurse, an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social service field.
  • Master’s degree in a social services field or RN.
  • One or more years’ experience in a healthcare admissions role.
  • One or more years’ supervisory/lead experience in a healthcare admissions setting.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be preferred based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, supervise, and perform preferred duties to ensure patient safety and the efficiency of the department for the assigned shift.
  • Prioritize potential admissions, considering patient needs and the facility’s capability and capacity to meet those needs appropriately.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of milieu management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Coordinate with the business office to ensure timely and accurate financial counseling of patients when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff and encourage/build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ensure that EMTALA logs, if applicable, are completed for each patient seen by admissions.
  • Participate in staff training by serving as a preceptor for new admission team employees.
  • Report shift challenges promptly to AOC, or Admissions Director.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers always.
  • Acknowledge and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
  • Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
