About The Position

BLS is seeking a Supervisor Accountant with experience or advanced technical knowledge in financial statements—including compilations, reviews, and audits—and tax compliance for for-profit business entities. The role includes preparing and reviewing work papers and preparing financial statements and returns needed for tax compliance. The position supervises engagements and staff, addresses accounting and tax issues, and supports client relationships.

The position offers a salary of $90,000–$127,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. The work arrangement may be fully on-site, fully remote, or hybrid. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 5–7 years of public accounting experience in a tax environment.
• CPA certification.
• Supervisory experience and client relations skills.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and small business tax compliance.
• Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of ProSystem/Axcess software, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office, and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation, and accounting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and supervise compilation, review, and audit engagements for a variety of for-profit organizations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including performing technical reviews.
• Prepare complex tax returns.
• Make inquiries to various tax authorities.
• Supervise and prioritize simultaneous engagements, including delegating duties appropriately.
• Review changes in work performed from prior years, account for changes in clients’ accounting procedures, and make adjustments to comply with changes in tax laws or accounting pronouncements.
• Resolve accounting problems and tax issues.
• Mentor new staff on assignments.
