About The Position

BLS is seeking a Supervisor Accountant for Tax & Small Business with experience or advanced technical knowledge in financial statements—including compilations, reviews, and audits—and tax compliance for for-profit business entities. The role includes preparing and reviewing work papers and preparing financial statements and returns needed for tax compliance. The position offers flexible schedules and may be fully on-site, fully remote, or hybrid. The listed salary range is $90,000–$127,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
5–7 years of public accounting experience in a tax environment.
CPA certification.
Supervisory experience and client relations skills.
Working knowledge of GAAP and small business tax compliance.
Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of ProSystem/Axcess software, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office, and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation, and accounting.

Responsibilities

Plan, execute, and supervise compilation, review, and audit engagements for a variety of for-profit organizations.
Prepare and analyze financial statements through technical review.
Prepare complex tax returns.
Make inquiries to various tax authorities.
Supervise and prioritize simultaneous engagements, including appropriately delegating duties.
Review changes in work performed from prior years, consider changes in clients’ accounting procedures, and make adjustments to comply with changes in tax laws or accounting pronouncements.
Resolve accounting problems and tax issues.
Mentor new staff on assignments.
