About The Position

The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Supervising Agricultural/Standards Inspector in Agriculture, Weights & Measures. Incumbents in this job class are responsible for supervising technical inspection and professional-related work in the enforcement of agricultural and/or weights and measures laws, regulations, and policies for consumer and agricultural industry protection. Also, incumbents in this class train, supervise, and evaluate staff and the work of various inspection, investigation, and enforcement projects and programs.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience as a Senior Agricultural/Standards Inspector with the County of San Diego; OR, Three (3) years of experience as an Agricultural/Standards Inspector with the County of San Diego or equivalent experience in another California County, State or local agency.
  • Possession of all five (5) of the following agricultural licenses from the State of California, Department of Food and Agriculture: Pesticide Regulation Investigation and Environmental Monitoring Integrated Pest Management Commodity Regulation Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation
  • OR Possession of all three (3) of the following weights and measures licenses from the State of California, Department of Food and Agriculture: Weight Verification Measurement Verification Transaction and Product Verification
  • A copy or copies of the State of California agricultural licenses OR State of California weight and measures licenses must be attached during Step 1 of the application submittal process.
  • Experience in meeting the minimum requirements must be included in both the Work Experience section and the Supplemental Questionnaire section of the Application.
  • Background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Disaster service workers are required to participate in such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them by their employer or by law.
