We are looking for a Test Engineering Supervisor to join our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office. Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or similar degree in an appropriate discipline, Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in space hardware production is an asset.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in engineering/manufacturing.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated good interpersonal, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
  • Professional aspirations to manage teams of people in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience or interest in developing skills in resource management, negotiation, risk management techniques, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP logic. Knowledge of the planning, purchasing, finance, and ERP system modules and understanding the interrelationship of these modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leads various teams of engineers
  • Reviews program requirements, constraint assessment and resolution of operational conflicts
  • Actively works to improve work methods and production-related processes
  • Advises program managers and line managers on issues of conflicting resource demands
  • Assigns production personnel according to the established production schedule
  • Acts as a coach, trains direct reports and actively participates in their skills development
  • Acts as the main point of contact for production employees
  • Monitors and accelerates the availability of resources, materials and operations while respecting our quality standards
  • Adequately communicates relevant information and works to develop the autonomy and efficiency of their team
  • Performs supervisory tasks for operations within their specified areas and with knowledge of the company's collective agreements
  • In addition to supervising direct employees in their group, the candidate will provide guidance and support to the entire production team regarding their tasks, programs, and production management
  • Communicates with planning and program control personnel to manage internal operations and mitigate risks
  • Acts as an interface and communicates with program managers and line managers regarding various issues related to received materials, production, or others
  • May act as a replacement for the production manager in case of absence or delegation
  • Acts as an interface and communicates with line managers as needed regarding critical failures and recovery plans, and may participate in strategic resource initiatives from senior management in specified areas
  • Ensures the training and coaching of employees in the specified area of expertise and participates in their performance evaluation by assessing their performance and recommending areas for development
  • Conducts interviews with potential new employees
  • Ensure the proper application and adherence to the company's general policies and processes by departmental staff.
  • Support the development and updating of departmental policies, processes, work instructions, and standards, and ensure they are accessible to and respected by staff.
  • Propose and lead new initiatives, or participate in operational process improvement (OPI) initiatives to improve departmental or overall efficiency.
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures and policies are respected and maintained.
