We’re seeking a motivated civil Superintendent with a background in civil construction and/or engineering who is ready to take the lead on-site and make a meaningful impact. As Civil Superintendent, you’ll be the driving force behind executing civil infrastructure projects. From leading crews and coordinating daily operations to upholding safety, quality, and project specifications—your leadership will directly shape our success in the field. Ideal candidates thrive in hands-on, fast-paced environments. This role is based out of the Fraser Valley, with the possibility of travel to out-of-town projects. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in the construction industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory position in a heavy civil construction role.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Expert level knowledge of excavation, shoring practices, underground utilities, and road construction.
  • Superior understanding of construction industry business operations; including cost management processes, cost estimations, and contract adherence.
  • Strong ability to interpret construction and engineering documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Well versed communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with clients and management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Consistent and proven safety performers that are interested in promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Based in the Fraser Valley.

Responsibilities

  • Primary site representative for the organization, responsible for all site level client, public, labor and subcontractor interface.
  • Leadership of day-to-day on-site activities.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with contract requirements and specifications.
  • Effectively implementing project plans including site safety plan, quality plan, environmental plan, and traffic management plan.
  • Scheduling, planning and resource allocation on the project, ensuring project plans are followed.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly reporting is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Advising the Operations Manager of any changed conditions encountered on the site and suggesting appropriate course of action.
  • Coordinating equipment servicing and repairs with mechanical operations.
  • Following collective agreement requirements and coordinating with union business agents.
  • Continual optimization of all works to enhance safety, profitability, and quality.
