Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial project superintendent experience required.
  • Ability to read/interpret construction documents.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective leadership skills, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict management with the desire to teach, mentor, and develop a team.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Systems experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD & Bluebeam is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct and coordinate field operations for the entire project including field supervision personnel, materials and subcontractor activities.
  • Select and manage appropriate project craft labor supervisory personnel.
  • Monitor quality control and safety programs.
  • Ensuring that shop & laydown areas are kept neat, clean, and orderly at all times.
  • Ensuring project documents are accurate, timely and in compliance (i.e. closeout documents, submittals, daily logs, etc.)
  • Create cost estimates for labor, materials, and other expenses, and work with the client to set budgets.
  • Work closely with the trade superintendents to ensure the job is running parallel to the planning, methods, and performance developed through the project bidding and planning function.
  • As part of the Project Management Team, participate and provide information for and assist in preparation of the monthly cost report's to-date and forecasted performance.
  • Supervise labor in conformance with the project work rules.
  • Maintain a liaison with client’s on-site management personnel and local union management.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate with construction managers and craft superintendents in order to manage and forecast craft labor resources (increases/decreases/availability) that best meet construction deadlines.
  • Update project schedules and prepare two-week look ahead schedules.
  • Ensuring the last planner system is followed and tracking the weekly PPC on all work.
  • Supervise and coordinate on-site craft safety meetings & tool box talks.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all on-site construction equipment.
  • Work with project planning staff to develop scope and schedule for project packages (self perform & subcontracted).
  • Be familiar with and ensure field work is executed in accordance with contract documents, government regulations, code requirements, quality specifications/testing, and applicable site safety rules.
  • Be familiar with and ensure field work is executed in accordance with the approved project schedule and labor estimates.
  • Participate in job walks, collaborative design sessions, constructability reviews to provide input to planning group, engineering group, and project team on constructability, savings (cost and time), and improvement opportunities.
  • As a project team member, help work toward a common goal. Promote interaction between all team members.
  • Support site craft leadership, including interfacing with engineering for E.I. changes and OEP deliverables.
  • Ensure that supervisors under their direction comply with requirements for site safe practices.
  • Establish clear safety performance expectations for all personnel under their direct supervision, monitor performance to these expectations and provide meaningful feedback on performance.
  • Require all subcontractors and subcontractor personnel to comply with applicable safety regulations.
  • Remove from the project, individuals or subcontractors who continually fail to meet safety expectations.
  • Establish regular meetings with personnel under their direct supervision to discuss safety planning, safety performance, and appropriate action planning to ensure safety goals are met. Monitor attendance and provide feedback that ensures performance to expectations.
