About The Position

The Superintendent, Mill Maintenance position is based in Nunavut, Canada, with a fly-in, fly-out 3x3 rotation. This role reports to the Deputy Mill Manager and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mill maintenance, including mechanical, hydraulic, and crushing/screening systems, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. The position requires a strong safety leadership presence, development and management of maintenance plans, and leading a multidisciplinary team. The role also involves diagnosing equipment issues, implementing technical solutions, and applying continuous improvement strategies to minimize downtime and enhance plant efficiency. Communication and reporting are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years’ of post qualification experience, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Lead Hand, preferably in an isolated remote setting with limited access to parts and resources.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), supplemented with supervisory course work.
  • Working rights in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of mill maintenance—including mechanical, hydraulic, and crushing/screening systems—ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
  • Acts as a visible safety leader, promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture in alignment with HSEQ policies and environmental regulations.
  • Develops and manages preventative and predictive maintenance plans, planned shutdowns, and repair schedules in accordance with OEM standards and site procedures.
  • Leads and mentors a multidisciplinary maintenance team by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing support and guidance to meet operational goals.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and collaborates with the team to implement effective technical solutions, while applying continuous improvement and reliability-centered maintenance strategies to minimize downtime, enhance performance and support long-term plant efficiency.
  • Prepares maintenance reports, participate in meetings and briefings, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
