About The Position

R.H. White is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on major mechanical and heavy industrial construction projects throughout New England. This role involves overseeing daily field activities, coordinating crews and subcontractors, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent will be responsible for bringing challenging projects, from complex piping installations to heavy rigging and equipment work, to life. At R.H. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant work experience.
  • At least 7 years of construction site leadership experience in underground or utility construction.
  • Experience overseeing projects valued at $4 million–$8 million, including complex piping and heavy rigging.
  • Knowledge of pump and machinery repair, basic electrical systems, construction methods, and materials.
  • The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents, along with an understanding of line, grade, and surveying methods.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and basic accounting procedures.
  • Familiarity with craft agreements, work jurisdiction, and field-level coordination and negotiations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software platforms such as Primavera, Procore, or COINS.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.
  • OSHA 10 certification (company-supported if not current).
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card, with assistance provided.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record review.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with project plans, specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop and manage work schedules, identify critical-path activities, and coordinate the timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Schedule and direct field employees and subcontractors, maximizing productivity and making the best use of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Set clear expectations, enforce safety procedures, and ensure all work meets contract requirements and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, coordinate with Project Managers and customers, and address challenges before they impact project progress.
  • Monitor labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor performance to help keep projects on budget.
  • Oversee time sheets, work orders, material tracking, billing documentation, and project reports.
  • Provide direction and training to craft employees, support workforce decisions, and promote accountability and continuous improvement.
