Superintendent II- Brownsville, TX
About The Position
This position provides project supervision at a construction site or business unit, including supervising several Level 1 Superintendents. The Superintendent II oversees construction activities to ensure work meets design, budget, schedule, staffing, quality, safety, environmental, and contractual objectives. The role coordinates on-site functions and works with project management, field supervisors, superintendents, contractors, subcontractors, and other work teams. The position is based in Brownsville, Texas, and is subject to outside working conditions and work around large construction equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in a similar field of construction.
- Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, and methods, as well as company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.
- Excellent management skills.
- Team player.
- Ability and willingness to comply with and support corporate safety initiatives.
- Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct daily.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around large construction equipment and remain safety-conscious.
Responsibilities
- Administer and promote a safety program that provides a safe work environment and encourages participation at all levels.
- Promote awareness of environmental policies and rules, ensure compliance, and take steps to mitigate adverse environmental effects of operations.
- Foster a quality culture and take steps to ensure work produces a product or service that meets customer expectations.
- Supervise construction efforts to ensure projects are built according to design, budget, and schedule and are staffed appropriately.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions, providing input on scheduling, engineering, and material control.
- Supervise and direct field supervisors, superintendents, and other contractors to support productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
- Coordinate with on-site work teams, including subcontractors, to resolve problems and support quality, safety, scheduling, and project objectives.
- Assist project management with developing and implementing project work plans, procedures, working documents, and standards.
- Support corporate safety, quality, and environmental initiatives and maintain a compliant work environment.
- Recruit, recommend, and hire qualified individuals to maintain high-performing teams.
