About The Position

The Superintendent I provides on-site functional supervision of a construction project, such as structures, concrete, or underground work. The role oversees construction activities to ensure the project is built according to design, budget, and schedule, while meeting safety, environmental, and quality expectations. The Superintendent plans and coordinates resources, supervises craft employees, and works with project teams and subcontractors to resolve issues and achieve project objectives.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in a similar construction field. It involves outside working conditions and work around large construction equipment. The role is based in Brownsville, Texas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience, such as Foreman experience, in a similar field of construction.
• Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, and company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Communication, organizational, supervisory, planning, and management skills.
• Ability to work around large construction equipment while maintaining safety awareness.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to talk and hear; frequently stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard; occasionally reach with hands and arms and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability and willingness to comply with Granite’s Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support a safety program that provides a safe work environment and fosters participation at all levels.
• Promote understanding of environmental policies and rules, comply with applicable requirements, and mitigate environmental effects of operations.
• Foster a quality culture and take steps to ensure products or services meet expectations.
• Supervise functional construction work to ensure projects are built according to design, budget, and schedule.
• Plan, coordinate, supervise, and manage resources to meet project objectives.
• Supervise craft employees to support productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
• Assist the project team with scheduling and with developing and implementing project work plans, procedures, working documents, and standards.
• Coordinate with on-site work teams, including subcontractors, to resolve problems and support quality, safety, scheduling, and project objectives.
• Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives.
• Abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct.
