Austin Commercial is seeking a healthcare Superintendent for our Houston, TX division. This role provides overall direction and control of the day-to-day field construction activities on assigned job sites. Depending on the project size, this position may lead a project or oversee a designated portion of a larger project. Requirements

B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or relevant discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education (High School diploma) and experience.
Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
6+ years of commercial construction field experience, including direct supervisory experience.
Proficient with reading plans and specs.
Ability to build and manage high performing teams.

Responsibilities

Oversee and lead the day-to-day field construction activities on assigned jobsite.
In charge of the overall safety at a jobsite, including the implementation of the safety plans and procedures.
Review record documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schedule to determine the nature and scope of the project, materials, manpower requirements, and equipment needs.
Plan the physical layout of the jobsite with the project manager; initiate startup activities including site security, office trailer placement, and utility hookups.
Designate areas for cranes, hoists, material storage, and parking.
Direct field engineers in the initial survey and layout of the jobsite, ensuring dimensional control lines and elevations are correct and verified by certified third-party site surveyors before foundation work begins.
Plan daily and weekly activities for each craft, providing detailed technical instructions to foremen regarding work, methods, manpower, and completion dates; resolve ambiguities in plans and drawings with project office staff.
Establish procedures for ordering self-performed building materials, supplies, and small tools with the project manager.
Inspect all field construction work in progress, ensuring high-quality workmanship; supervise or appoint staff to supervise all activities, addressing and correcting deficiencies promptly.
Provide technical guidance and assistance in resolving construction problems; investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency and quality; collaborate with architects, engineers, and consulting firms.
Assist the project manager in evaluating schedule and cost impacts.
Assist the project manager in developing the manpower projection chart; monitor weekly labor costs, investigate delays, and adjust resources to ensure timely project completion.
Assist the project manager in developing the equipment projection chart and monitor equipment use, maintenance, and cost.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes, including company policies on employment, compensation, and labor relations.
Manage scheduling of all governmental inspections necessary for obtaining a certificate of occupancy.
Assume overall responsibility for the health and safety of employees, including designating first aid areas, emergency treatment facilities, accompanying OSHA inspectors, and correcting safety hazards.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with owners, architects, consulting firms, and other parties with financial interest in the project; resolve problems through direct negotiations.
Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates through on-the-job training, company-sponsored programs, and outside learning opportunities.
Assume a leadership role in the career planning and development of project staff, including merit increases and promotions.
Perform tasks associated with project completion, including close-out punch lists, demobilization, and as-built documents.
Maintain a detailed and accurate daily report of all field construction activities.
Administer the company's Safety & Health Manual.
