About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to the Electrical construction discipline work area. This role actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values,” and represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.” The Superintendent plans and supervises work activities, determining methods of construction, safety procedures, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedules. They coordinate assigned work with different crafts, company departments, and other contractors, and maintain liaison with safety, engineering, estimating, and planning departments to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications, and schedules. The role also involves assisting in resolving construction and safety issues, conducting accident investigations, and maintaining communication with HR for manpower requisitions. The Superintendent monitors craft compliance with the project safety program, documents issues, and ensures corrective measures are implemented. They also liaise with other departments such as Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure support for craft activities and project schedules. Field safety audits are conducted as required, along with maintaining a thorough understanding of the Corporate Safety Manual and requirements. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as directed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures
  • 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
  • Ability to supervise large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.
  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site.
  • Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.
  • Working in small or confined spaces.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).
  • Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.
  • Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
  • Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
  • Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
