Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform conflict resolution, solve logistics problems, and manage challenging operations
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including working in a cold environment, living in 24-hour periods of light or darkness, shoveling snow, lifting up to 50 pounds, and wearing a respirator
  • Self-starter who can motivate and inspire others
  • Ability to adapt quickly in response to new information
  • Positive and optimistic in the face of challenges

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct daily operations at Summit Station, Greenland.
  • Coordinate the efforts of all on-site teams.
  • Oversee the logistics of daily activities.
  • Ensure researchers' needs are supported.
  • Make all safety-related decisions as the senior on-site point of contact.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and food.
  • Maintain station logs and submit weekly reports to the station manager.
  • Keep off-site management informed.
  • Oversee training, scheduling, evaluations, and conflict resolution.
  • Live in the Arctic for several months at a time.
