About The Position
Xcelente Trucking & Logistics Training Center is seeking motivated and detail-oriented youth interns for a Summer Freight Dispatcher Internship. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of transportation and logistics. Interns will learn about freight dispatching, including an overview of the Trucking & Logistics Industry, the role of a Freight Dispatcher, types of freight and equipment (Dry Van, Flatbed, Reefer, etc.), and key players: Shippers, Carriers, Brokers, Drivers.
Requirements
- High school student or recent graduate (ages 16–24 preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet navigation)
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
- Interest in logistics, trucking, or transportation industries
Responsibilities
- Assist with scheduling and dispatching trucks to appropriate locations
- Track shipments and update logs and records
- Communicate with drivers to provide updates and directions
- Enter and verify data in dispatch and tracking systems
- Support dispatchers with administrative and customer service tasks
- Learn terminology, tools, and best practices
