About The Position

This position is part of Voya Investment Management (Voya IM) and its Summer Student Program, which gives students firsthand experience in the investment management industry while working alongside professionals across the organization. The Summer Student supports the Risk Reporting and Analytics team with projects and day-to-day activities, gaining exposure to risk management practices and learning from Risk team members. The role also involves collaborating with business partners and participating in risk meetings to develop an understanding of investment risk management and industry best practices.

The position is based near Voya’s Atlanta office, with an expected onsite presence averaging up to three days per week to support team and business priorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
• Functional knowledge of or interest in investments and financial markets.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple members of the Risk team.
• Good technical foundation with databases and programming languages.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to SQL, data analysis, databases, or programming languages.
• Familiarity with data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI, WebFOCUS, or SSRS.
• Interest in investment management, financial markets, risk management, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Meet regularly or biweekly with Risk team members to learn about the Risk function and its partnerships across Market Risk, Credit Risk, Equity Risk, Multi-Asset Risk, and Operational Risk.
• Support data visualization and reporting development using tools such as SQL, Power BI, and WebFOCUS.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives involving SQL, technology partners, and data gathering.
• Support the automation and enhancement of reporting using SQL and reporting tools such as Power BI, WebFOCUS, and SSRS.
• Collect, process, and analyze data to support Risk Managers and ongoing risk management activities.
• Assist with updates and edits to investment risk policies.
• Collaborate with Risk team members and business partners across Voya IM, gaining practical exposure to risk management processes and best practices.
