About The Position

This position will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit. The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties. The work environment is typically in an office environment. May be required to move/lift up to 30 pounds.

Requirements

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Completion of some high school course work is required.
CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
One year of related experience.
Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner.
Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
Good team player.
Organized and attentive to details.

Responsibilities

As directed, support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, Bible-based devotions, community church, meetings etc.).
Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
Provide general administrative support greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc.
Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
