Engineering Summer Student

About The Position

Westlake Pipe & Fittings is looking for 1 Engineering (Mechanical or Process) student to join our team for the summer. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the Maintenance Team as well as other senior level employees. This position will be responsible for managing spare parts inventory and support additional responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent. This role is reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Requirements

Working towards a degree as a Mechanical Engineer from a reputable Canadian University
Will complete 1st or 2nd year of engineering as of May 2026
Must have a Valid BC Drivers License

Responsibilities

Assist Maintenance Department by identifying spare parts
Enter parts data in MDG system to build online inventory
Build organization system for parts room locations, shelves and bin locations
Work on various design and operation improvement projects
Engage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completion of capital projects
Participate and/or cooperate with the JHSC to improve safety.
Perform housekeeping activities as required.
Comply with WorkSafe BC and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures of the division.
Ensure own conduct and that of direct reports is in accordance with NAPCO Code of Business Ethics and the Workplace Discrimination/Harassment Policy
Communicate with employees, plant and supervisory staff as required.
Build participative working relationships with plant and management personnel.
Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Relations Manual and/or Employee Handbook.
