About The Position

The CPS Summer Skills Boost program is a four-week focused summer program designed to provide high-impact tutoring for current 6th and 7th-grade students with demonstrated academic needs in math and literacy. The program will run from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, at The Putnam Avenue School, from July 6 to July 30. Students will be grouped by their home school (CSUS, DVUS, RAUC, PAUS) and assigned to school-based educators. Tutoring will be available both in-person and via Google Meet, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 1:5.

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Cambridge Public Schools.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in teacher or leadership roles.
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure in Elementary 1-6, Moderate Disabilities preK-8 and/or Administrative License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous school leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Current CPS administrator strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend logistics and collaborative planning meetings.
  • Participate in the recruiting and hiring process for program staff.
  • Support school-based student recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate with department and program staff to develop program-specific themes that integrate with the district-provided ELA curriculum and grade-level focus standards for ELA and Math.
  • Manage a program budget for supplies and enrichment activities, including field trips.
  • Participate in planning for pre-program professional development for summer teaching staff.
  • Oversee and manage daily program operations.
  • Serve as a liaison for families and teachers in the program.
  • Provide teacher support as needed.
  • Maintain communication with the Executive Director of Academics and Program Manager.
  • Maintain student attendance data and student pick-up logs.
  • Maintain the safety of program participants.
  • Provide substitute coverage when a staff member is absent.
  • Disseminate communications to families regarding program guidelines, policies, and expectations.
  • Coordinate with team members to plan one parent event.
  • Other related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Academics.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate dependent upon collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate.
  • Time and a half for hours worked over 40 hours for non-exempt employees.
