About The Position

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Skill Builder for their Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) program. CFTSS is a team-based model providing Mental Health Treatment to individuals aged 5-20, with a focus on including family members in services whenever possible. Services are individualized, flexible, and primarily delivered in youth’s homes and other community settings. The Skill Builder will provide Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) to support youths’ mental health needs through “hands on” activities based on identified treatment goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, high school equivalency, or a State Education Commencement Credential with a minimum of two years’ experience in children’s mental health, addiction and/or foster care; or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, Psychology, or in related Human Services field required.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions required.
  • Demonstrate strong engagement, judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must possess the ability to be creative and present ideas and skills in a variety of ways.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as on a team is required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records required.
  • Valid and clean New York State Driver’s License and own a reliable car that is properly insured, registered, and maintained to drive from worksite to worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly meetings with youth in their home and community.
  • Develop Treatment Plan Goals.
  • Help the youth develop skills toward goals identified, focused primarily on activities, which will help the child achieve age-appropriate tasks and function appropriately within the home and community.
  • Engage in a variety of activities with the youth, including discussions, role play, games and art activities in order to accomplish these tasks.
  • Provide documentation in an Electronic Health Records and engage in regular communication with team members.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and monthly staff meetings.
  • Transport the youth as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
