About The Position

This position provides nursing services for students during the summer school program. The nurse will be responsible for supporting students with health concerns, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with students, staff, and parents to develop health plans. The role also involves maintaining health records, adhering to district policies, and utilizing technology for various tasks. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential, as is the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State RN License with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN)
  • Washington State Educator Staff Associate certificate with a school nurse endorsement
  • Possess a WA State Health registered nurse license
  • Able to provide own transportation

  • Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a continuum of services and consultation to building teams to meet the inclusion needs of students.
  • Provide nursing assessments for students with health concerns.
  • Works with students, staff, and parents to assess needs for the creation and development of health plans for students.
  • Responds to emergency health situations for the purpose of resolving immediate health concerns and/or directing to appropriate medical intervention for resolution.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Attends staff and other professional meetings as may be assigned or necessary.
  • Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open communication.
  • Possess knowledge of and adheres to School District Policy and Procedures.
  • Use technology for communication, presentations, trainings, and workshops.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
  • Ability to train and supervise health room assistants.
