Summer Research Program Intern 2027, Energy Systems (Group 04-47)

MIT Lincoln Laboratory•Lexington, MA
•$25 - $44

About The Position

The Energy Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory develops technology solutions to enhance the resilience and efficiency of civilian and defense energy systems. Its work includes advanced power-grid architectures and system designs, control techniques for microgrids and distributed energy resources, and hardware and real-time simulation testbeds. The intern will work within a multidisciplinary team developing technologies to secure and strengthen U.S. critical infrastructure. The role focuses on developing software solutions that advance AI/ML algorithms for energy infrastructure. Project assignments will depend on the intern’s interests and background and may involve AI/ML solutions, datasets, data pipelines, or user interfaces. The Summer Research Program provides hands-on research experience addressing national security challenges, mentorship, and professional development through workshops, technical talks, and networking events. Internships typically last 10–12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates, generally from May through early August.
