About The Position

The Energy Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a summer intern to help develop an AI-enabled portfolio analysis capability. The multidisciplinary team uses agentic AI to integrate Department of War-funded research and development documentation with technical and geospatial data, identify trends and gaps, assess prior investments, and guide future research addressing natural-hazard risks. The intern will help design and implement AI-based analysis tools. The resulting software and analyses will contribute to a lasting capability used to inform future research investments and operational priorities. The Summer Research Program gives students the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to national security challenges while working with scientists and engineers. Interns participate in hands-on research, receive dedicated mentorship, and take part in professional development activities such as workshops, technology talks, and networking events. Internships typically last 10–12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates, usually from May through early August.
