About The Position

Salesforce AI Research is seeking entrepreneurial Research Interns for Summer 2027 to help build the next generation of Enterprise AI. This is described as a nontraditional research internship: interns explore high-impact research directions, prototype AI capabilities, and learn how ideas are validated with customers and developed into production-ready solutions. Interns work with mentors and research scientists and have access to Salesforce’s global customer and product ecosystem. The team advances enterprise AI research and works with product teams and customers to translate research into production capabilities. Interns collaborate with research scientists and engineers on projects aimed at real-world product impact, with opportunities to publish at top-tier conferences. The internship lasts at least 12 weeks.

Requirements

Strong publication record at top AI venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, or EMNLP) and/or experience building AI research into real-world systems.
Experience with Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or DeepSpeed.
Motivation to pursue real-world impact and bring research beyond the lab to users at scale.
Expertise in one or more core focus areas: agentic AI and reasoning; multimodal AI and computer vision; speech intelligence; or core modeling and post-training.
Ability to conduct research with guidance from mentors and readiness to grow toward independence and translate ideas into impactful systems.
Comfort working with ambiguity, energy and focus in work, and concern for customer adoption as well as technical innovation.

Nice To Haves

PhD or MS candidate in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
Experience building and scaling ML models for real-world applications.
Strong programming skills, such as competitive programming (e.g., ACM-ICPC) or open-source experience.
Thoughtfulness about responsible AI, trust, and the real-world impact of systems.
Excellent problem-solving ability, including tackling unsolved challenges.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates.
