About The Position

WittKieffer, a leadership advisory firm, is evaluating the acquisition of a complementary lower-middle market professional services firm. This transaction is significant for the firm's growth strategy. They are seeking a high-caliber MBA candidate with investment banking or corporate finance experience to join the deal team as a Summer M&A Associate. This role offers direct involvement in financial modeling, due diligence, deal execution, and integration planning, providing real M&A experience on a live transaction with executive leadership exposure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Current MBA student or recent MBA graduate at a top-tier program.
  • Prior experience in investment banking or corporate finance/development.
  • Proven ability to independently build and operate complex financial models.
  • Strong accounting knowledge.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor.
  • Collaborative and proactive communicator, along with strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Cross-border (including IFRS) experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build, refine, and pressure test integrated pro forma financial models and structuring scenarios.
  • Conduct detailed valuation analyses using multiple valuation frameworks and reference models (e.g., comparable company and transaction analyses).
  • Analyze historical financial statements, quality of earnings, and forecasts.
  • Develop sensitivity analyses across key assumptions (e.g., revenue growth, productivity, margins).
  • Perform accretion/dilution analyses.
  • Identify, analyze, and scope synergy opportunities from cost and revenue perspectives, together with actions required for achievement.
  • Organize, intake, and conduct initial analysis of diligence materials.
  • Identify data inconsistencies, gaps, and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Contribute to process management through diligence tracking and synthesize outputs for leadership review.
  • Prepare internal presentations and materials for executive and board-level discussions.
  • Coordinate with external buy-side advisors (banking, legal, tax) and sell-side advisors on data requests and deliverables.
  • Benchmark market comparables and analyze industry trends.
  • Support scenario modeling for integration planning and post-close value creation.
