About The Position

The Athletic and Fitness Center is seeking a responsible individual with current lifeguard, first aid, and CPR/AED certification who possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as well as some experience with lifeguarding. Dress code/uniform will be required for this position. CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certification must be valid and other duties assigned by the supervisor for this position. Student staff must participate in online and in person training sessions provided by the Career Development Office. The position is in-person and hours vary per week depending on availability in relation to the building hours. Nights and weekends are required. You will be asked to meet in person at least once per semester. There is a dress code/uniform that will be required for this position. All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year. Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer. Requirements

  • current lifeguard, first aid, and CPR/AED certification
  • exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • some experience with lifeguarding
  • CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certification must be valid
  • Applicants must posses a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard AND CPR certification
  • Student staff must participate in online and in person training sessions provided by the Career Development Office

Responsibilities

  • Attention to detail is imperative.
  • Applicants should posses precise communication skills to manage the pool.
  • Responsible for monitoring swimmers always.
  • Enforcing pool riles always.
  • Pool water testing in accordance with the Health Department.
  • Assisting swimmer(s) with the proper use and teaching on equipment.
  • Participating in any ongoing training/in services.
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the supervisor for this position.
