About The Position

KE Camps is seeking a Lifeguard to oversee swimming activities at their summer day camp located at Laurel Links Country Club in Laurel, NY. KE Camps is a leading provider of summer camps for country clubs nationwide, partnering with over 230 private clubs. They emphasize strong staff support and aim to make staff feel like part of the KE Camps Team. The camp operates Monday-Friday from July 6 through August 21, and staff must be available for the entire season. This lifeguard position requires 10-15 hours per week and can be combined with a Camp Counselor role.

Requirements

  • Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers while in or around the pool at all times.
  • Responsible, Dependable, Level-Headed, Flexible, and Calm in all situations.
  • Current certification in lifeguard training or equivalent.
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR (advanced certification may be required based on camp location and site of delivery of aquatic program).
  • Prior experience working with children.
  • All applicants must have up to date Lifeguard Certifications prior to starting work.
  • Staff members must be available to work the full camp season (July 6 - August 21).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Lifeguarding and/or Swim related instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guard all swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Assist Camp Director/Staff with any pool related responsibilities as needed, including camper swim assessments.
  • Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies.
  • Direct swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions.
  • Provide rescues as needed.
  • Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Evaluate conditions and monitor weather reports for safety and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water, and maintain a clean environment in and around the pool area to ensure they are safe and usable.
  • Complete other duties, as assigned.
