Summer Lifeguard
About The Position

As a Lifeguard, you'll be part of a high-energy team that keeps our community safe while creating a welcoming space for kids, families, and members of all ages. Every shift is different. One moment you might be helping a nervous swimmer gain confidence in the water, and the next you're keeping a busy pool running safely and smoothly. You'll stay engaged, active, and connected with people all day long - no sitting behind a desk required.
Requirements
- Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, alert, and responsible individuals
- Someone who enjoys working with people and staying engaged
Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas and respond quickly to safety concerns
- Prevent emergencies through active scanning and strong awareness
- Support swim lessons, aquatic activities, and YMCA programs
- Test and maintain water quality standards
- Help keep pool equipment and facilities clean and organized
- Work closely with fellow guards and YMCA staff as a team
- Create a positive, welcoming experience for members and guests
- Complete incident reports and follow YMCA safety procedures
