About The Position

Linda M. Villarreal & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Houston, Texas, is hiring a rising 3L Summer Law Intern (Class of 2028). This internship provides exposure to litigation and trial practice, offering a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel and real-world exposure to a multitude of legal services. The selected individual will work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, and have a designated mentor. The internship has a full-time schedule in the summer, beginning Wednesday, June 2, 2027, through Wednesday, August 11, 2027, with the potential to transition to a part-time schedule during the 2027/2028 school year. The intern will be paid $33/hour and operate in a hybrid environment. A $2000 intern stipend will also be provided. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational skills, an energetic/positive attitude, legal research knowledge, and the ability to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced working environment. Located in Houston, Texas, the practice is active and busy with a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment and skilled support staff.

Requirements

Currently enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA accredited law school.
Must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship.
2L students in the top half of their class.
Strong research skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Resume must be attached.
Transcript (unofficial copy accepted) must be attached.
Writing Sample (no more than 5 pages long) must be attached.
Eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately.
Employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization.
