About The Position

Earthjustice is seeking law students from across the country for a summer law clerk position. The program is designed to provide clerks with hands-on experience in environmental law litigation. Clerks will have the opportunity to work with attorneys on case development and litigation strategy, potentially drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting legal research, developing strategy and legal theories, gathering evidence, and attending client meetings and court proceedings. The program also includes seminars on environmental issues, interactions with environmental groups, and a job interview workshop. Clerks are expected to work proximate to or in an office where the program is located.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027)
  • Available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027
  • Must work from the U.S. during their clerkship

  • Cover letter addressing relevant background, interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and inspiring environmental or public interest issues
  • Legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages
  • Unofficial transcript
