About The Position

Earthjustice is seeking law students for a summer law clerk position. The Alaska Regional Office focuses on protecting the Tongass coastal rainforest, safeguarding the Arctic, fighting destructive mines, and conserving the marine ecosystem. They partner with national, regional, and local environmental organizations, Alaska Native Tribes, Alaska communities, ecotourism businesses, and other organizations to enforce environmental laws. The office is located in Juneau and Anchorage, offering access to wilderness and recreational opportunities. Earthjustice, founded in 1971, uses the power of law and partnership to protect health, preserve natural places and wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. They work on significant cases nationwide and partner with thousands of groups and supporters. The summer law clerk program includes seminars on environmental issues, interactions with environmental groups, and a job interview workshop.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027)
  • Available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027
  • Must work from the U.S. during the clerkship

  • Cover letter addressing relevant background, reasons for interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and inspiring environmental or public interest issues
  • Legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages

Benefits
