About The Position

Earthjustice is seeking law students for a summer law clerk position in its Puerto Rico Program. The program aims to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to a distributed renewable energy system in Puerto Rico, addressing the environmental and health challenges faced by its residents. The summer clerkship offers hands-on experience in case development and litigation strategy, working alongside experienced attorneys. The program also includes educational seminars, networking opportunities with environmental groups, and a job interview workshop.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027).
  • Must be available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027.
  • Must work from the U.S. during the clerkship.
  • Resume.
  • Cover letter addressing relevant background, interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and inspiring environmental or public interest issues.
  • Legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages.
  • Unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

  • Work with several attorneys on case development and litigation strategy.
