About The Position

Earthjustice's Oceans Program is seeking summer law clerks to work on a mix of international and domestic ocean matters. The program aims to protect oceans and ocean wildlife from threats such as overfishing, oil and gas drilling, and habitat degradation. Earthjustice, founded in 1971, is an environmental law organization that uses the power of law and partnerships to protect people's health, preserve natural places and wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. Summer clerks will work proximate to or in an office where the program is located.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027)
  • Must be available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027
  • Must work from the U.S. during the clerkship
  • Submit a resume
  • Submit a cover letter addressing relevant background, reasons for interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and particular environmental or public interest issues that inspire you
  • Submit a recent legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages
  • Submit an unofficial transcript
