About The Position

Silicon Labs is seeking students for potential Summer 2027 internship opportunities in Design Engineering. This talent pool allows students to express interest in future openings aligned with their education, technical experience, and career interests. The internship program offers the chance to contribute to meaningful engineering projects, learn from experienced professionals, and work alongside technical teams with support from a manager and mentor. Interns gain practical skills through hands-on assignments and may participate in technical and professional-development sessions, networking opportunities, community-building activities, and a final project showcase. Specific responsibilities, qualifications, locations, and program dates will vary by available internship.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Microelectronics, or a related technical field.
  • Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
  • Coursework, research, projects, or internship experience related to semiconductor design or verification.
  • Exposure to one or more relevant technical areas, such as analog or digital circuits, RTL design, verification, computer architecture, VLSI, RF systems, signal processing, or physical design.
  • Experience with relevant tools or languages, which may include Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, UVM, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA, or similar technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a collaborative engineering team.
  • A willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and evaluate analog and mixed-signal circuits used in semiconductor products (e.g., amplifiers, converters, power management, clocking, sensors).
  • Support the design and implementation of digital logic for integrated circuits and system-on-chip products, including RTL development, microarchitecture, synthesis, and design integration.
  • Develop verification environments, test plans, and test cases to confirm semiconductor designs function correctly, potentially involving SystemVerilog, UVM, scripting, debugging, and coverage analysis.
  • Support the physical implementation of integrated circuits, including floor planning, place and route, timing closure, power analysis, physical verification, or custom IC layout.
  • Contribute to the design, simulation, and testing of radio-frequency circuits used in wireless semiconductor products (e.g., transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, oscillators).
  • Develop and improve software, scripts, tools, and workflows that enhance the efficiency of engineering teams in designing and verifying semiconductor products.
