AgTexas Farm Credit Services is offering a 10-week summer internship program for aspiring professionals interested in agriculture, finance, and lending. Interns gain hands-on experience in agriculture credit, lending, and loan administration, with exposure to other areas of the business. The program includes travel throughout AgTexas’s 43-county territory to interact with branch staff, customers, and agriculture producers; learning from team members; experiencing the company’s culture and day-to-day operations at various sites; and completing both an individual credit-based project and a collaborative real-world project. Interns gather data, analyze trends, and present recommendations to senior and executive leadership. Interns learn about credit analysis, loan structuring, lending decisions, portfolio management, financial risk assessment, and compliance with lending regulations, as well as rural home and construction loans. They also gain exposure to loan processing, documentation, servicing, customer experience, back-office operations, office management, and customer service. When possible, interns may explore property appraisals and crop insurance. Each intern is paired with a mentor who provides guidance and feedback, and interns apply their learning to real-world scenarios. AgTexas Farm Credit Services serves approximately 2,600 member-borrowers across an 11-office, 43-county territory, with an average volume of approximately $2.7 billion. Its lending portfolio includes cotton, livestock, dairy, feed grains, real estate, and agriculture-related business loans. The company provides credit and crop insurance to member-owners.
