2027 Summer Intern - Commercial Banking
About The Position
CIBC’s 10–12 week Summer Internship provides hands-on experience and exposure to commercial banking. Interns work alongside experienced professionals, participate in real projects, and learn how banking teams support business clients through expert advice, innovative solutions, and relationship-focused service. This is a general application for the CIBC U.S. Summer Intern Program within Commercial Banking and Commercial Real Estate; team details and required skills will be shared during interviews. The intern supports credit analysis, financial research, and client service activities while working closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts, and other team members. Projects may include market research, data management, data clean-up, business case reviews, and process improvement initiatives. The internship is intended to build skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Work arrangements, including the proportion of on-site and remote work, will be discussed during the interview.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related field.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and data management tools.
- Analytical, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate trust, teamwork, and accountability.
- Be legally eligible to work at the specified location(s) and, where applicable, hold a valid work or study permit.

- Experience with financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist with financial analysis, credit reviews, and report preparation to support client needs and internal decision-making.
- Work with Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts, and other team members to support client service and project delivery.
- Participate in market research, data clean-up, and business case reviews.
- Learn new systems, tools, and processes, and apply feedback to strengthen skills and performance.
- Maintain attention to detail and help ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.
