About The Position
AIG is seeking Summer Interns for the Underwriting - Energy department to play a part in transforming how customers manage risk. This 9-week program offers valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge, working with leaders on dynamic projects. Interns will gain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment, participating in instructor-led masterclasses, hearing from senior leaders, and building connections through mentoring, networking, and volunteering. Following the program, interns may be considered for a role in the location where they completed their internship, with the Analyst program beginning in July 2028.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
- Available for the complete Summer Internship Program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
- Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities, requiring interns to work in the office at least four days per week.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred majors include Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in the energy industry, commercial insurance, or risk management.
- Interest in complex operational and technical risks.
Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across traditional and renewable energy, power generation, mining, petrochemicals, and related industries.
- Review underwriting submissions, operational information, financial data, and loss history to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
- Collaborate with underwriters, risk engineers, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
- Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
- Monitor industry, regulatory, and emerging risk trends that may impact clients and underwriting decisions.
- Develop technical knowledge of energy insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
