About The Position

SOM is seeking a Summer Intern in Structural Engineering to contribute to design projects while developing design and visualization skills. The internship is part of SOM’s Summer Internship Program, which offers learning from experts across design disciplines and a range of in-person and virtual learning opportunities and events. The program runs from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027. Applicants must be returning to school in Fall 2027. Compensation typically ranges from $30 to $32 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, location, and education. The application deadline is January 18, 2027.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in structural engineering or a related field of study, and returning to school in Fall 2027.
• Exhibits initiative, problem-solving ability, and high attention to precision and accuracy at a task-specific level.
• Able to follow instructions and timelines for deliverables, seek guidance when needed, and escalate appropriately if required.
• Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
• Limited experience in structural analysis, drafting, and design development.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, specifically Sheets.
• Basic knowledge of ETABS, Revit, and Rhino/Grasshopper.
