About The Position

ID.me is seeking a Software Development Engineer Intern to join its engineering organization. Interns will contribute to various product and platform teams, working on user-facing features, API development, or platform enhancements. The role offers experience with modern technologies and collaboration with experienced engineers to deliver high-quality solutions. This position is based in the Mountain View, CA office and requires full-time, in-office attendance.

Requirements

  • Graduating in 2028 or beyond
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Go, Python, or Ruby), gained through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Strong understanding of basic computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Eagerness to learn and take feedback in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and client-server communication.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure through internships or schoolwork.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Interest in platform engineering, API design, or building developer tools.
  • Exposure to applied AI/LLM development, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, or function/tool-calling — from coursework, internships, hackathons, or personal projects.
  • Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test software components under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to our platform's evolution by developing API-first services used by internal and external teams.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies to continuously grow your skills.
  • Write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Help troubleshoot issues in development and production environments.
  • Learn best practices for software engineering, security, testing, and observability in a platform company, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship impactful features.
