About The Position

Allegion is seeking a Summer Intern – Hardware Engineer to support the development of embedded hardware solutions for electronic access control and security products. This role is part of the Advanced Development team, focusing on innovative products that enhance safety and security. The intern will gain experience in defining requirements, designing architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, testing, and integration. Opportunities include learning about electronic locking systems, access control solutions, and participating in design and testing peer reviews. The position is located at the Hague Road Technical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, and Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative, e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, leadership on school or work projects, etc.
  • At least one class in basic circuit theory or design - preference is mid-level proficiency in circuit design.
  • Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques.
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
  • The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD design tool is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize engineering tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation, and design analysis.
  • Gain experience in embedded hardware design and testing techniques.
  • Deepen understanding of RF design and antenna considerations.
  • Work with a team to produce well-rounded solutions.
  • Participate in daily and other regular team meetings, including project teams and hardware competency.
  • Deepen understanding in basic electronics and the use of electrical tools, such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, and digital logic analyzers.
  • Obtain the experience to create a foundation for growth and future opportunities with Allegion.
